The framework that turns information into application.
SAVI is a coaching framework built on one idea: great teams aren't built with more information. They're built when coaches know how to apply what they already know, with clarity, consistency, and intention.
SAVI applies across the three things that define every program.
Select a category to see how each lens shapes it.
Every drill, every rep — one teachable concept, clearly defined. High clarity and high energy together create high performance. If you can't say it simply, you can't teach it consistently. Remove the noise. Build confidence through repetition.
Add defense. Add competition. Add constraint. Build a "prime" segment into every practice where your only job is to raise the standard. The more game-like the environment, the more it transfers. If it isn't hard, you aren't holding the line.
Players know what a win looks like before the whistle blows. Don't just measure that you ran the drill — measure whether it transfers. If it matters, measure it. Win the process. Let the results take care of themselves.
Every drill should connect to everything else you're doing. You don't do a rep that isn't aligned with your identity. Commit to principle-based teaching and your practice becomes a system, not a schedule. Pass the torch — appoint captains of each standard.
"The art of coaching is knowing what to do when."
Identify one simple standard, offer it to the team, get a yes. Clearly define it, put it on the board, speak it daily. Don't try to build culture with a list. Build it with one thing done right.
If it isn't uncomfortable, you aren't holding the line. Use playing time and commitment conversations. Have the hard conversation with the player who is below the standard. Great teams have those conversations regularly.
If you focus on outcomes, you chase your tail. If you focus on standards, you build something that lasts. You may lose early. But if the standards are right and held, the results will come.
Culture doesn't happen by announcement. It starts with one player doing the thing. Then three. Then eight. When everyone's doing it, it's culture. Start small, stay consistent, and let it grow.
"A standard becomes culture when you don't have to fight for it anymore."
Seven words or less. Players can't execute what they can't explain. When your system is built on clear principles, players stop waiting for the call and start making decisions.
Install your system under pressure, not in clean conditions that don't exist on game day. Add defense. Add constraint. Messy wins. Build a system that holds when the game is on the line.
Don't just measure that you ran the drill. Measure whether it shows up in the game. Build accountability into your system. If it matters to your program, you should be able to measure it.
Not borrowed from a clinic or copied from a coach you admire. Built on your first principles, designed for your players. When your system reflects who you are, your team believes in it.
"Principle-based systems create players who read, decide, and act."

The courses give you the information — the "what." The membership gives you the application — the "how." How to install it, tweak it for your level, your personnel, your opponents. You get live trainings, community, coaching support, and the accountability to actually apply it. Coaches who buy a course get information. Coaches who join the membership get transformation. Here's how members describe the difference.
Tonight we had the best game I've ever coached. I came to SAVI for the Xs and Os. What I learned is that I'm actually not a good teacher, and I wasn't good at holding standards. The culture and teaching of SAVI is way more valuable than the Xs and Os.
I cannot tell you how many times I visit here to find something useful or encouraging. My biggest personal celebration is a shift towards a NATO mindset that I wouldn't have made without this community. It has revolutionized my coaching and I am forever thankful for that.
This is a great place for Xs and Os and you can find plenty of it here. But most importantly for me, the SAVI mission, values, and people have been instrumental in my coaching development. We smile, laugh, challenge, and improve together in a joyful environment.
I've been coaching for 20+ years and I wish I had the SAVI community from the start. Being able to connect with other coaches that want to win but want to make their players better people and players has been invaluable. You have everything you need to make your program elite and make it your own — not just a copy cat of someone else.
As a head coach with limited resources and not much of a supporting staff, SAVI community has given me an online staff by my side. A lot of us are learning and implementing concepts in real time allowing us to share our experiences and data. I also feel like I am back in college getting my masters degree in basketball. Learning how to truly serve the players I coach, with the goal of making them better young men for the future. Looking forward to my journey through the SAVI system.
The unselfish nature of people who want to learn and help others grow. No egos here — just 'iron sharpening iron.' Truly grateful and wish every coach could start here, because their journey will be validated and celebrated.
The framework itself is a game changer — adopting simplicity, welcoming the mess of adversity, redefining and measuring victories, creating a new identity. All four of those things have helped me reshape my mindset and my program into one that is supercharged with joy and growth.
SAVI is like Rosetta Stone for basketball. It has helped unlock a new language for me as a coach — not just in Xs and Os, but in how to teach, communicate, measure success, and think about player development more purposefully. The community of like-minded coaches may be just as valuable as the content.
Since joining the SAVI coaching community my coaching paradigm has completely shifted — I felt I was at a dead end with coaching. SAVI systems has breathed new life into me. If you feel lost or at a dead end in your coaching style, this is definitely worth the investment in yourself.
Simplicity and sticky language has helped create one of the most important transformations in me as a coach and our whole program. That transformation has led to high clarity = high performance in our program. Coaches' biggest danger is grey areas — we eliminated a lot of grey areas thanks to SAVI.
Yes. The SAVI system is built on principles of spacing, decision-making, and defensive habits that transfer at every age — and in many ways, they're easier to teach to younger players who haven't had years of bad habits to undo. These coaches found out firsthand.
Started the season losing 8 of our first 10 games while we implemented LL. Parents were beginning to look at me sideways. This last weekend in the state tournament, we went 4-0 and held opposing teams to 24 ppg. State Champs. Thanks to all of you in the SAVI Community who encouraged me to stay the course.
A year after fully embracing LockLeft and RDS, we have seen very measurable program growth. 7th grade year: 1-9. 8th grade year: 5-5. We are also averaging 35 deflections and 27 steals per game. LockLeft is transforming this program.
I decided about 2 months ago to go all in on the SAVI Systems. SAVI has completely revolutionized Forge Basketball Training. We have grown to over 100 kids in the program and they love the systems that are in place.
A former Varsity head boys coach had a daughter in 4th grade who could barely get past 7 feet. I had her do Piano's then Pistols for loading. A week later she came back and made 2/5 from the top of the key three. Dad came over just smiling. He asked, 'Where did you find this system to teach shooting?' He is now deep diving on SAVI YouTube videos.
My boys just finished their season at homeschool Nationals. They won the Division 2 National Championship for 18u. Went 4-1 on the weekend using Race Space principles and a 3-2 Lock Left match up zone defense. Started 8-6, finished 14-3 down the stretch.
Once we committed to it, everything clicked. We're forcing 20+ turnovers per game, averaged wins by 20 points, went 9-2 on the weekend program-wide, and came away with two tournament championships. Going all in showed me how simple, effective, and scalable this defense is at any level.
