The framework that turns information into application.
SAVI is a coaching framework built on one idea: great teams aren't built with more information. They're built when coaches know how to apply what they already know, with clarity, consistency, and intention.
SAVI applies across the three things that define every program.
Select a category to see how each lens shapes it.
Every drill, every rep — one teachable concept, clearly defined. High clarity and high energy together create high performance. If you can't say it simply, you can't teach it consistently. Remove the noise. Build confidence through repetition.
Add defense. Add competition. Add constraint. Build a "prime" segment into every practice where your only job is to raise the standard. The more game-like the environment, the more it transfers. If it isn't hard, you aren't holding the line.
Players know what a win looks like before the whistle blows. Don't just measure that you ran the drill — measure whether it transfers. If it matters, measure it. Win the process. Let the results take care of themselves.
Every drill should connect to everything else you're doing. You don't do a rep that isn't aligned with your identity. Commit to principle-based teaching and your practice becomes a system, not a schedule. Pass the torch — appoint captains of each standard.
"The art of coaching is knowing what to do when."
Identify one simple standard, offer it to the team, get a yes. Clearly define it, put it on the board, speak it daily. Don't try to build culture with a list. Build it with one thing done right.
If it isn't uncomfortable, you aren't holding the line. Use playing time and commitment conversations. Have the hard conversation with the player who is below the standard. Great teams have those conversations regularly.
If you focus on outcomes, you chase your tail. If you focus on standards, you build something that lasts. You may lose early. But if the standards are right and held, the results will come.
Culture doesn't happen by announcement. It starts with one player doing the thing. Then three. Then eight. When everyone's doing it, it's culture. Start small, stay consistent, and let it grow.
"A standard becomes culture when you don't have to fight for it anymore."
Seven words or less. Players can't execute what they can't explain. When your system is built on clear principles, players stop waiting for the call and start making decisions.
Install your system under pressure, not in clean conditions that don't exist on game day. Add defense. Add constraint. Messy wins. Build a system that holds when the game is on the line.
Don't just measure that you ran the drill. Measure whether it shows up in the game. Build accountability into your system. If it matters to your program, you should be able to measure it.
Not borrowed from a clinic or copied from a coach you admire. Built on your first principles, designed for your players. When your system reflects who you are, your team believes in it.
"Principle-based systems create players who read, decide, and act."
